November 19, 2007
Can't believe it's been so long since our last update! We have finally slowed down from all the retreats and school groups. We are finishing the yearbook and Schmitty is frantically trying to finish the 1st & 2nd term DVDs. Hopefully, everything will be mailed the middle of December ~ it just seems like we are so far behind, but we will get caught up soon. The weather has been picture perfect this fall and for that we thankful. It sure makes a big difference to all our groups. A cold front is predicted for Thanksgiving that will cool things off considerably ~ guess it's about time.
Speaking of Thanksgiving................. We are so thankful for all our campers, counselors and staff and for the wonderful opportunity we have to call CAMP HONEY CREEK home. We count our blessings each and every day when we look around Camp. We hope you all enjoy Thanksgiving and your time off from school, just remember....... In all things, give thanks!
Katie Dabbs misses camp and reports that she had the best summer of her life last summer. She spends her days working with her horses and is looking forward to returning to the university next semester.
Anavilly Estrada loves her new job. Her students love her (of course) and writes that one of her students ran into her at Wal Mart and wanted to know why she wasn't at school. Anavilly had to explain to him that she wasn't always at school!
Sarah Schmitt was here a few weeks ago with her parents and a friend, Emily, from Georgia. Sarah is enjoying cheerleading, student council and is making great grades.
Kathyrn & Elisa Schmitt will be here for Thanksgiving and we are looking forward to their visit.
The Wendel girls are doing great in school this semester and both girls made the honor roll. Paisley is participating in Number Sense for UIL and Tuesday was elected Student Council representative and is 1st chair in the band with her clarinet.
Melissa Hart loves LSU and was initiated into Kappa Delta recently. She misses her camp friends and says some of her sorority sisters remind her of her camp.
Kassie Kelly made straight A's her first nine weeks and stays busy with Math UIL and the bassoon in 6th grade band.
Paige Ebert is busy with school and swimming. She ran into Mara Weidmann at a swim meet in Dallas and they were very excited to see each other. Sister, Taylor, is busy applying to various colleges and has been accepted into the University of Missouri, the University of Oklahoma and Texas Tech. Her Mom reports that she is leaning towards Missouri (this week).
Emily Newton writes from St. Louis University that the weather is much different from Texas and has learned to layer her clothes and not forget her coat. She is thinking she will major in Biology and minor in piano.
Abbey and Maggie Dolan are moving to Temple at the end of December. They continue to talk about camp all the time and can't wait to return! We can't either, girls! They are coming back to camp "even if it is a 3 hour drive."
Catye Cantrall is busy applying to colleges for next year. She has been accepted into Tulane & Auburn and is waiting on a decision from Claremont McKenna. Catye sent us a copy of an essay she used for some of her applications and it was wonderful! She hopes to find time to be a counselor next summer.
Desie Baker misses camp a ton. Volleyball is over and she has way too much time on her hands. She has applied to TCU, Trinity, Southwestern and Wellsley. She is ready for Thanksgiving.
Laney Abernethy is looking forward to getting her Christmas tree, making a gingerbread house and going to a party. She misses Camp Honey Creek, like she missed her parents when she was at Camp. She can't wait until B term.
