July 4, 2018
Happy Fourth of July!!! Last night we had canoe races and that is always an exciting event. The girls are really focused during this activity and all did a great job. This morning the Staff got up early to serve breakfast in bed to Cabins 1, 9 and 10. These cabins were honor cabins four weeks in a row ~ this is a BIG deal and we are always so proud of them for this accomplishment. So when they get home they CAN clean their room – just bribe them with ice cream ~whatever works.
Today is the last day of classes and since it’s the fourth of July we will have a short parade right after Rest Period. No one will be here to watch the parade, but I bet we have fun anyway. The girls are all in red, white and blue and we will gather at the flagpole for the pledge and then they have to go to class at 4:30. Tonight we will start some practices for closing and everyone is supposed to begin organizing their stuff to pack.
Friday, July 6th – the gates will open at 6:00 pm. Tribe Serenades will begin at 7:00 pm, campers will go on their tribe hills at 8:00 pm and the Princess ceremony will begin at 9:00 or dark thirty. The campers (no meals for parents) will have an early supper on Friday. We will NOT load luggage on Friday ~ we have a great system for loading luggage on Saturday, so please be patient.
Saturday, July 7th – the gates will open at 8:30 am, Watershow will begin at 9:30, the dance performance will begin at 10:45 followed by the awards ceremony at 11:00. We should be finished by 11:45 or 12. Please check your daughter out and register for 2019 under the Veranda Friday or Saturday. Please do not ask to take your daughter early – this may not sound important to you, but it is very important to your daughter to finish the term and to cheer for her tribe. We try very hard to stay on schedule and we ask that you take a deep breath and just enjoy the Closing events with your family and friends.
