How can this be the last day of June?? The days are just going too fast. Last night we had an exciting night of Canoe Races – always a favorite. The Kickapoos won the races and they were all so good. Today is the last day of classes and this evening we will have some practices and the Jr Deb riding and campcraft clubs will try again for their cook-out (it was rained out the other night). We are trying to dodge the rain and finish all of our activites. Tomorrow the girls will practice for their Closing events and we will have Cabin 12 Vespers to end the day. Cabin 12 will give their reflections on their years at camp and it’s always a beautiful tribute. I will try to put a few pictures on Friday after the Watershow so it may be a little later than normal. We will see you in a few days and safe travels on Saturday.
Can’t believe this is our last Monday of the term! Seems like it has gone by so fast. The girls had a great weekend. On Friday all the Deb Archery, Riflery and Campcraft clubs had a cook-out on the hill and that was a big hit. Saturday evening we had the Drama production and the actresses were amazing. Sunday we had our Horseshow – check it out on our Facebook page if you haven’t already. Yesterday afternoon we had Deb Waterfront and ended the day with the ever famous movie, “Newsies.” You should hear the girls screaming and singing during this movie – crazy. Tonight we will have the Sub Deb Archery tournament and the Jr Deb Riding and Campcraft clubs will have a hot dog cook-out on the hill. Tomorrow evening we will have Canoe Races and that is always a crowd favorite. Wednesday is the last day of classes and then everyone will get ready for Closing.
I hope you all have recieved your departure times via email. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email. We are enjoying every last moment of this term ~ Cabin 12 doesn’t even want to talk about Closing!
“I am the person I am today because of Camp.”
Happy Friday from The Creek. We had our last Cabin Night on Wednesday and the weather was just perfect for that. Yesterday we had the Deb and Jr Deb Archery Tournaments. The Sub Debs and Jr Debs had an INTENSE Gaga tournament – man, some of these girls are serious about their Gaga skills. If you don’t know what Gaga Ball is – ask your daughter. Cabin 12 got all dressed up and brushed their hair and went to Bridget’s Basket in downtown Hunt for a special dinner. They reported that it was “awesome.” I think getting out of Camp is always a special time for them.
Tonight the Deb Archery, Campcraft and Riflery clubs will have a cook-out on the hill and the Sub Debs will play Gold Rush. Saturday evening we will have our Drama production and Sunday we will have the Horseshow in the morning, Deb Waterfront in the afternoon and “Newsises” to end the day. So hard to believe that we have one more week of camp. We are going to try to record all or parts of the Horseshow and post on our Facebook page, so keep looking for that.
Have a great weekend and we will do the same and try to make the days slow down a bit.
“What I liked best was that I fit in.”
Good morning from CHC!
Sunday night the girls watched “Tangled” on the flagpole field and all seemed to enjoy that. Yesterday we celebrated Merry Half Christmas complete with Christmas music, Mr. & Mrs. Claus and all the girls were dressed in red and green. Tonight we will have our last Cabin Night. Cabin 12 will go to Bridget’s Basket tomorrow evening for a special dinner and they are excited about that. It’s so hard to believe we are nearing the end of the term. Yesterday we emailed your departure times and mailed you an application card via snail mail for next summer. Please fill that out and bring it with you at Closing with your deposit to reserve a spot for 2022. We are hoping and praying for NO MASKS next summer – fingers crossed. Enjoy the photos.
“At Camp it didn’t matter a whole lot if you came in last.”
WOW – We had a great weekend at CHC. The girls did a great job with Tribe Shows on Saturday night. I hope you were able to see them on our Camp Honey Creek Facebook page – I think it’s still there, so go check it out. The Kickapoos won by two. It always amazes me with what they can do with a crazy title and a little paint and cardboard. This is the first time we have not had visitors for the show and the girls seemed less stressed, etc. (hate to tell you this). Anyway, it was a great production for both tribes.
Sunday afternoon we had Jr Deb Waterfront with some CRAZY races and the Pawnees were victorious with this event. So fun. Last night we had our carnival and the girls were all in costumes and danced the night away. I wish you could see and hear how much fun they have – just being kids. It’s a wonderful time for all.
Today we had a sleep-in until 9:30 and now it’s Water Day which is a great break in the routine. The campers are doing water activities all day and screaming and giggling like crazy. They love it. We will end the day with a movie and back to our normal class routine tomorrow. Enjoy the photos – there’s a bunch!
