It’s so quiet at CHC right now – no giggles, or questions, or screaming girls. We had such a GREAT Closing Weekend and I hope everyone arrived home safe and sound. We strongly believe that kids need camp now more than ever and being in a camp setting is good for the soul. Second Term was good with the Kickapoos winning the plaque. But, that’s not what it’s all about – it’s the friendships and experiences they will remember forever. Thank you for choosing Camp Honey Creek and for celebrating our 20th summer – what a journey it’s been. Also, thank you for sharing your daughter with us this summer and we sure hope she is registered for 2022 ~ fingers crossed for a normal camp season next summer. Enjoy the photos from our Closing Weekend and please keep in touch with us and remember…
The days are just going too fast. All of the sudden the summer is coming to an end. Last night we had an exciting night of Canoe Races – always a favorite. The Kickapoos won the races and they were all so good. This morning the Staff served Breakfast in Bed to Cabins 2 and 12 – they won Honor Cabin four weeks in a row! Cabin 12 has done this for 8 years! You see, they can clean their rooms – ice cream and treats are great incentives.
Today is the last day of classes and this evening we will have practices for Closing. Tomorrow the girls will have more practices for their Closing events and we will have Cabin 12 Vespers to end the day. Cabin 12 will give their reflections on their years at camp and it’s always a beautiful tribute. The final pictures of Closing activities will be posted Monday. We will see you in a few days and safe travels on Saturday.
“Never again will I find friends like my camp friends.”
Can’t believe this is our last Monday of the term! Seems like it has gone by so fast. The girls had a great weekend. On Friday all the Deb Archery, Riflery and Campcraft clubs had a cook-out on the hill and that was a big hit. Saturday evening we had Rock Star 2.0 and Cabin 12 went on their overnight. Sunday we had our Horseshow and yesterday afternoon we had Deb Waterfront and ended the day with the ever famous movie, “Newsies.” You should hear the girls screaming and singing during this movie – crazy. Tonight we will have the Sub Deb Archery tournament and the Jr Deb Riding and Campcraft clubs will have a hot dog cook-out on the hill. Tomorrow evening we will have Canoe Races and that is always a crowd favorite. Wednesday is the last day of classes and then everyone will get ready for Closing.
I hope you all have received your departure times via email. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email. We are enjoying every last moment of this term ~ Cabin 12 doesn’t even want to talk about Closing!
“There are no prettier stars than the ones you see at camp.”
Happy Friday from The Creek. We had our last Cabin Night on Wednesday and the weather was just perfect for that. Yesterday we had the Deb and Jr Deb Archery Tournaments. The Sub Debs had an INTENSE Gaga tournament – man, some of these girls are serious about their Gaga skills. If you don’t know what Gaga Ball is – ask your daughter. Cabin 12 got all dressed up and brushed their hair and went to Bridget’s Basket in downtown Hunt for a special dinner. They reported that it was “awesome.” I think getting out of Camp is always a special time for them.
Tonight the Deb Archery, Campcraft and Riflery clubs will have a cook-out on the hill and the Sub Debs will have their Archery Tournament. Saturday evening we will have the second round of Rock Star and Cabin 12 will finally go on their overnight. Sunday we will have the Horseshow in the morning, Deb Waterfront in the afternoon and “Newsises” to end the day. So hard to believe that we have one more week of camp. Katie asked a Sub Deb what her favorite food at camp was this summer and her reply was “Blow Pops.” Gotta love the honesty of our little ones.
Have a great weekend and we will do the same and try to make the days slow down a bit.
